My story

I knew I wanted to become a birth doula after my first was born. Throughout that pregnancy, birth, and postnatal period, I found myself constantly asking questions like, “Why am I only just learning this now?,” and “Why are our cultural attitudes towards this so far removed from the experience of it?”

A friend advised me to find a doula, and without quite knowing what to expect, I trusted her recommendation.

My doula was like my angel — always giving me a grounded perspective, asking me questions that I hadn’t known to ask myself, providing comfort when it was hard to find, and magically boosting my confidence throughout the most vulnerable and transformative experience of my life.

One of the most important things that I learned was that childbirth is not only about bringing forth a baby, it’s also about bringing forth a mother. I came through the experience with a newfound reverence for the act of birth and the people who do it.

More than how you birth, I care about how you feel before, during, and after your birth. I want all birthing people to be able to make their own informed choices and to feel safe and supported in doing so.

I trained as a full-spectrum doula with the Original Birth Connection.
